Ngong Forest partnership with the Commonwealth Women’s Business Network and Zhejiang Estate Company Ltd

In a bid to promote environmental conservation and sustainability, Greencover Trees Kenya in partnership with the Commonwealth Women’s Business Network and Zhejiang Estate Company Ltd undertook a tree-planting initiative at Ngong Forest. The initiative aimed to contribute to the restoration of the forest ecosystem, which has been under threat from deforestation and human activities.

The event brought together members of the community, and local volunteers who worked together to plant over 1000 trees in the designated areas of the forest. The tree species planted were carefully selected to ensure that they are indigenous and would thrive in the forest ecosystem.

The Ngong Forest is a critical water catchment area that provides water to Nairobi and its environs. The forest is also home to a variety of wildlife and plant species, making it an important ecological hub. However, illegal logging, charcoal burning, and encroachment have led to the degradation of the forest, leading to a decline in its ecological value.

The tree-planting initiative also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and encourage more people to take action towards protecting the environment. and is a significant step towards restoring the forest’s ecological balance and ensuring its long-term sustainability. The initiative serves as a reminder that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment and promoting sustainability.
